I am guessing it is an ARC723 but not 100%. Please take a look at the pictures and tell me what you think. The data tag reads GVW 22000 CGVW 36000, One more question do you believe a CDL would be required to drive the truck?

Here is the link to the pic. link

I think it is probably around an 800 series and they built them through about 1949 or so. I can't find my book on the 40's larger trucks, but it definitely could be a 1948. Its missing the headlight buckets. They were attached down at the bumper.
As for the CDL, it depends on your state. Texas has no provision for CDL exemption for antique trucks. Only farm trucks. If you cross state lines with it, you lose your home state exemptions.
It is a serious matter, because if you are in an accident, and it is found that you should have a CDL, it is the same as no license. CDL requirements are getting more stringent all the time. 2 serious violations in 2 years and your license is revoked. And you must have a current medical card signed by a doctor who is in the national registry. | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,384 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,384 | The medical is only necessary if you are driving commercially. I've had a class A for decades and haven't driven commercially for years so have no current medical, but I can use a semi to haul a farm tractor to my shop or take an antique to a show in another state. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,061 | Hy Guys, my vote is for 48, I can see the headlight stands coming up from the frame which is how they started mounting them after the war, prewar headlights mounted on the sides of the grill housing, but I don't see any mounting holes there. | | | | Joined: May 2015 Posts: 4 New Guy | New Guy Joined: May 2015 Posts: 4 | Correct it does have the headlight mounts coming up from the frame. As a bonus I do have the headlights! | | | | Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 36 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2012 Posts: 36 | A CDL is required to drive trucks over 26,001 pounds. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,538 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,538 | As mentioned above by 3B, & Crenwelge, that truck style was used in the Heavy Duty Lineup until 1949. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,538 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 2,538 | Oh yeah, If it's a 22000lb. gvw, it's going to be either a ACR622 (136"in. WB), or ACR623(160"in. WB), depending on the wheelbase. The 700 series trucks had gvws from 27500-30000lbs. | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | 26,000 is the number.
Is it a 426 gasser or a 4-71?
