The bed comes off with about eight bolts (the ones with the offset flat washers) and four fender braces. But, you won't be able to make a short bed fit. First off, if you place the bed with the fenders over the wheels, you will have about a foot of frame showing between the front of the bed and the back of the cab. Then, you will have a foot of frame sticking out behind the bed and also, the mounting bolt holes won't line up. If you were to cut the frame, you would have to cut out a foot behind and a foot in front of the wheel. Not really worth the effort unless you have the equipment and a lot of time to waste. Maybe someone will tell you different, but I doubt it.
