Can some one tell me if the doors on a 46 1/2 ton truck be adjusted from the front to the back?

There is not any slotted movement. Any adjusting would have to come from a shim or tweaking the hinge.

Randy is correct as there is no adjustment as per say.....but you can massage with a 2x4 up, down in and out to make fit better. There is no set way to complete that other than trial and error. Are your pins new? Can you drill and add bushings? Is the door square? Or been reworked? Ability, experience and knowledge all factor in. Being a little stubborn will help. Have fun and good luck

It sounds like to make them fit I will have to put shims behind the hinges as Randy says because the gap is grater in the back of door than in the front. BTW I'm 70 years old and this is my first attempt at doing a resto-mod or far as that goes I havent worked on cars or trucks very much at all but I really enjoy doing this. Thanks for the help Don

Don, I have a PDF of a few pages from the 46 GMC manual which shows among other things how to adjust the doors. I used the info on my 46 Chevy it worked just find. Shoot me an email and I will send you the PDF.
