I have been chasing sloppy steering for a month now. Rebuilt the steering box. Checked it out on the bench and it was smooth as silk. As soon as it put it back in the truck I get about a 1/4 turn of the steering wheel with no resistance, just a flop from side to side. When I turn the steering wheel it moves up and down. I am assuming this movement is due to the worm gear being loose. I know how to adjust the bearing cup, just don't know what the best tool for the job. What do you use for that long arched slot?

Thanks
Andy

Hy TK421,back in the day we had a tool called a drag link socket, essentially a large slot screwdriver bit that could be turned by a 1/2" ratchet. You might get blank stares back if you ask for one today, however I did purchase one from my Mac Tool distributor a few years ago, hope that helps.
