I have a 55 trans out of a wagon, and one out of the 56 p/up.These are man. 3 speed) Numbers on both are the same everything LOOKS the same. Are they the same and should it work in the 56. Bolt mounting holes were broken on trans to bell housing, and tail section to trans, that is why i want to change. Thanks guys for any info.

The only difference I know of is the lower front mounting holes are threaded on a truck transmission, not on a car.

Make sure the length is the same. There also might be a difference in the side cover & shift levers. If so you can use the cover off the truck trans.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
