I'm trying to figure out how the tail light bracket (I'm assuming there was just a left one in these years) was installed during these years originally. Any ORIGINAL (not fixed up trucks) pictures to show the installation would be appreciated. I've noticed most fixed up trucks seem to have them in front of the rear stake pocket, but the reproduction bracket is angled to the rear a few degrees so it doesn't sit flat on the flat part of the stake pocket that way. Also the license plate gets partially hidden by the stake pocket. The bracket fits a lot better mounted behind the stake pocket and the license is plate fully visible, but this doesn't seem like a popular way to mount the bracket for some reason. Is the repop bracket made wrong, or what am I missing here? Please keep responses respectful and on topic. Thank you.

Art Deco would be '41-'46.
I think the original bracket went on the front of the stake pocket. I don't have an original They are often so bent up it is hard to tell their exact original shape. The repop may be copied from an improperly "straightened" original.

I have an oem bracket. It has to go on the rear of the stake pocket because of the stiffing rib. The license plate clears the stake pocket.

It's a '46. The owner of the truck has an original damaged and re-bent bracket and he said it was on the front of the stake pocket. We got the repop and it is bent completely different and the rib isn't as long, so it clearly isn't an exact reproduction. I'm beginning to think they DO go on the front of the pocket.

My bracket is stamped stopray and the rib extends such that placing on the front of the pocket would require spacers or the flat would not sit against the pocket. This bracket is a couple of gage sizes thicker than the new one I added on the right side.

That's the way the repop ones are. The "Stopray" is stamped right side up and the rib stops before the slight bend by the mounting holes. On the broken bracket that the truck owner brought me (that he thinks is original) the "Stopray" is stamped upside down and the rib extends into the offset bend.
