I believe that GM started vent windows in 1950, but the doors from 1948-1955 1st are all the same except that 48,49,50 have no vent windows. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | cmayna,
I am not sure they are exactly the same because the '54 cardboard side cover is not attached with screws - it is attached with push-in clips. I am not sure if the holes for the clip are threaded as in the '53.
Also, the lower hinge cover uses smaller headed screws on a '54 - I am not sure that the depression in the cover and the hole size are the same.
In either case, the doors appear to be the same.

The early designs had turn down handles and the later models (53 included) had push button handles. The holes cut into the doors do not match. I can't recall off hand what year the change was made, maybe someone else can chime in with that.

Earlier handles had a maroon button (I do not know how many years back).
