Will any parts from this trans swap with my 55.2 3 speed open drive shaft column shift trans? Example: side cover, shift forks, cluster gear etc. Other words is it worth hanging on to, so I have extra parts for my 55.2 trans?

There is the ball type and the scissor type. The 2-3 shift fork will interchange the 1-R will not.

| | | | | Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 899 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Dec 2008 Posts: 899 | I was hoping the 53 4 bolt side cover with one shift arm up an one down would interchange on my 58 3speed overdrive trans that has both arms pointing the same direction, so I could install it in my 55.2 3100 which has the one arm up and one arm down set up.

If that's the transmission you got from me, it's an open drive line model, not a torque tube model. It was out of a 54 3/4 ton.
Chris | | | | | Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2001 Posts: 5,337 | A 1954 3/4 ton 3 speed transmission is the same as the 1948-54 torque tube type, except Chev adapted a strange bushing, seal, and yoke to the rear to make it work with a open drive shaft.
