Thought I would post this in case others ever try to search about rockers not oiling correctly.

Found out late last fall that my rockers for cylinder #1 were hardly passing oil from the top holes but the rest were passing oil like crazy. Took it apart yesterday to find that the engine shop had put the rocker shafts in upside down. The rest were bleeding like crazy due to the oil holes being faced up and aligning up with the oil holes in the rockers. All the oil was bleeding out so fast from cylinders #3-#6 that #2 was getting fair flow and #1 was just getting a bit. Now that i rotated the shaft all the rockers are getting the same amount and the oil pressure at idle as gone up a bit!

The holes have to face down and a easy way to tell is that there is a slight flat spot on the rocker shaft. If you see that flat spot with your valve cover off then your rocker shaft is upside down.

Some times it is the easy things that get missed.
FYI, not all shafts have the flat spot that you described.
Glad it was a simple fix for you.

Thank you for this post! If I don't remember anything else, I will remember to blame "the engine shop" for doing it wrong. smile
(I am sure your shop guy did it to you. I'm just saying)

Guess it is my fault in the end anyways for not checking it over after i got it back from them. Makes me scared to take off the head and see what they did for the valve seats vs what i asked them to do.
