Finally finished putting in a new mc and lines. Bled the brakes and have no leaks. Took the truck for a ride and noticed that I have to press the brake pedal almost to the floor to get the truck to stop. Like a dummy, I don't remember how far I had to press the pedal before the repair job. I've read a couple articles that say with the old trucks you sometimes had to push the pedal to the floor, but I just can't believe that is supposed to be the case. Truck does stop, just not sure if the travel of the brake pedal is normal.

And I'm taking the truck to a pro to have him inspect my work and check everything.

Any thoughts or advice on this is appreciated.

55.2 on a '78 blazer frame

Single MC

Drums and brakes are from a '78 Blazer and new wheel cylinders were installed in August.

Firm pedal or spongy? If firm I would look at adjusting the brakes. Spongy I would bleed the brakes until Firm.

A 78 Blazer will have disc brakes on the front. It must have a dual master cyl. to work right.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.

This truck has a drum/drum configuration. (it was built by my father-in-law in the 1980's and they did a lot of their own, ummmm, modifications...)

Going to adjust all the brakes tonight and see if that helps. Having a pro look at it as well.

Good plan on having a pro look at it. Make sure to get details as to what he did to fix it so you can do it yourself the next time. We'd like to know too.

**UPDATE**

Just got the truck back from the shop. They adjusted all 4 brake drums. The front drums needed the most adjustment and since I put new parking brake cables on, that required the rear drums to be adjusted as well. Travel on the brake pedal is MUCH shorter and much firmer. It was well worth the $80.
