Today I took the 45 out for a 15-20 mile drive over country roads to work out some of the kinks. I had a very nice drive with the wife, but when we returned home, and I was doing a walk around checking fuel lines, oil, rear end, etc. I noticed the right rear wheel was VERY hot. The left rear was fine. Should I be concerned? ....or is this normal? I have not gone through the rear end in her, but do you guys who know think, this should be something should do? There is no roaring or knocking. Just noticed it unusually HOT!

First thing I would suspect is a brake problem. Maybe you should take it for another shorter drive, check for the same thing and then if hot, jack it up and see if it is hard to turn. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2008 Posts: 1,644 | I agree that you've most likely got a brake shoe that isn't releasing & is in continuous contact with the drum, assuming you have original style brakes. Pull the hub & check to make sure the return springs are in place & functioning. If it isn't that then it's probably a bad bearing.

I wouldn't drive it again until you pull that drum and see what's up. Takes 2 minutes to get the drum off. If the shoes look like they're retracted, try moving the axle up and down. If it moves you've got a bad bearing or race - been there, done that. | | |
