The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Headliner bows

Painting the cab interior this week, I have purchased a headliner from Chevy duty, I also got the center bow, It was missing the headliner,rear bow or trim retainer, however I can't figure out the front fastening I see screw holes for a rear trim bow. Does it just go over the front upper windshield support which the sunvisors secure to? Don't see any screw holes etc. on front. I see American Classic has a used front and rear listed haven't a clue. I thought it went under the innner windshield trim, which screws in at intervals along the edge of the windshield. Do you not have small screw holes around the perimeter of your windshield?

I don't know if a '51 is different, but on my '54 the front end of the front piece of cardboard just wedges in behind the windshield rubber. The winshield rubber sort of has a flap that you can roll back to fit in the cardboard. It works the same way over the door openings, also the middle bow tucks in behind the door rubber. Make sure you push the back edge of the front piece of cardboard into the middle bow 1st and crimp it. This will give the headliner the shape it needs to assume for installation prior to actually trying to fit it into the truck. Good luck, I just did the job last night with only one little wrinkle. :rolleyes:

The original headliner in mine went behind the windsheild trim and the sun visor also went through near the corner. Also the middle bow is the "floating kind" the two halves of the headliner hold it in place
