I picked up another truck it's a 1947.5 chevy 4400 shortened with a dump box on it. Running 235 splasher. Was suppose to be parts truck for my 51 but now I'm not sure what truck I'm gunna build kinda like both the three window and the five window trucks. The 47.5 has a deluxe red head heater not sure what that comes from but it works. I guess pick the best parts and see what happens not really a plan yet.
Is there any pro and cons between 47.5 and the 51 trucks?

Other differences: - fuel tank location (in-cab or under-bed) - left-side lower-cowl open/close air-vent vs vent windows - wider seat in the 51
As crenwelge posted: " I would use the one with the least rust. " I'd pick the one with the less cab rust. Check carefully around the interior cab floor and the lower rear cab corners (poke with screwdriver).

The 51 has better frame but I do like both the driver side vent and vent windows might be showing my belt buckle and suspenders again like hotrod lincoln said about my transmission idea or just keep the windows and block the vent

I first bought a 51 1.5 ton and 6 weeks late got a 48 2 ton for parts. I don't have a plan yet either except to take the best of both and make one....I will be fun to see how our two very similar projects will shape up.... | | |
