Hi Folks,
Just finished re adjusting the valves and re gapping my spark plugs.
Started my truck and -WOW-the idle Speed is up by 200 RPM!
Valves were too tight and the plug gap was too tight. Opened the plug gap to .040 (pertronix ignition) and my valves to .008 I and .018 EX - cold.
Haven't driven it yet. Weather is really bad. Should be OK next week.
Anybody able to explain the jump in idle speed?
Thanks and Happay Easter

Hi Folks,
Nobody has replied to this post and I am thinking that maybe I didn't pose my question correctly.
It's obvious that with valves too tight and plugs gapped incorrectly, somethiong had to change for the better.
I am wondering if anyone has a technical explanation as to how or why idle Speed jumped 200 RPM.
Thanks

Hy sepp, all other things being equal the engine may be operating more efficiently and making more power on the available fuel after the adjustments you made. Adjusting the idle R.P.M. is part of a normal tuneup, hope that helps.
