I took my truck for a ride a week ago after installing a new vacuum advance. It ran very strong but I have noticed that the triple core radiator I installed is designed for an 8 cylinder engine and the 235 runs exceptionally cool, like 160 degrees on the temp gauge. This past weekend the air temperatures were cooler and the engine temperature stayed cooler around 150. The engine power was significantly less and I started thinking the operating temps for my engine are my only concern causing my changes in performance with this engine (yes it has a thermostat installed designed to open at 180 and the engine is getting that hot and opening the thermostat)Would the engine temperature be causing significant performance changes? | | | | | Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,842 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2002 Posts: 2,842 | Sounds like a bad stat. Before you install a new 180, do a stove top test to make sure it opens at 180ish.
