Where is the battery located on your AD truck?

Is it in the stock, under passenger floor, location...or did you move it somewhere else?

...inquiring minds would like to know. LOL

Original location, under the pass. floor, with 00 cables and master shut off, very handy for doing anything electrical, also an anti-theft item.

It baffles me why anyone would want to move it. How perfect can you get? Its out of the way. No other MODERN vehicle has this amazing feature. If your jumper cables are not long enough, get longer ones. Meanwhile, it doesnt get any better than where it is!
The master cutoff is pretty cool and easier where the battery is!

After working on a 57 TF truck for the last year or so, I am so glad my battery is out of the way. Stock location is perfect. My 52 had some rust and missing bits. But a little welding and it was good to go. Only other truck battery location I liked was on the 67 chev. Off to the side of the radiator. It never got in the way. The heater, well that is another question. Jump start an AD truck? Roll down the window pull along side and there you go.

I beg to differ, 2005 Buick Le Sabre has the battery under the rear seat.
It is a special type of vented battery, it is vented out via hoses through the floor boards.
Expensive to replaced. 50 bucks more than a normal battery.
There are terminals under the hood to connect to if it needs a jump.

At one time in my 54 panel I had both a 12v battery and a 6v battery.
The 6v was in the original location and the 12v was mounted on the passenger side fender skirt.
On the engine was the original 6v generator and a 12v alternator with a built in regulator, both turned using the same fan belt.
I used the 12v battery to power a 12v high wattage sound system.
The 6v battery was used for the trucks original electrical system.
Both batteries shared the same ground.
With engine off, after a couple hours the 12v battery would drain down dead.
I would kid everyone that we were stranded.
Then I would hop in the truck and start it up with the 6v battery.

And they tuck my wife's Chrysler Sebring battery under the
front fender.
First car was a '41 Caddy, which placed it in the same place
as the '50, 3600, under the floor on the passenger side.

Original with my master cut-off on the seat valance. The only downside to the stock location IMO is maintenance. Out of sight, out of mind. Same with the master cylinder.

When your battery needs replacing, get a good sealed 6v battery and, after that, battery maintenance becomes another story about the good old days.

Mine is located under the passenger seat, as original. Thinking of installing an Optima 6V down there. Anyone have picts of that installation or any thoughts?

It goes right in without an adaptations.

I use the original style "cover"/hold-down. Place the battery on a diagonal and be sure the posts are not touching the hold-down.

To be safe, I also use attery post anti-corrosion "washers" on the posts, after the hold-down has been installed.

My battery is in the original place under the pass. side floor.

BTW, I've always wondered why people would move them under the hood? Doesn't "look" right with that hump on the firewall..

GM moved it there is later years. Probably so that people could see the leaking batteries (and corrosion on the firewall, etc)?

Miss POllys 2000 Bonneville also has that $150 battery under the back seat. Huge PITA. Wonder who thought that up?

It really does not bother me that Buick put the battery under the rear seat of the 2005 La Sabre.
Because it is the only full size 4 door car that I know of that gets 30 MPG on the highway.
And I can fit in it, comfortably.
Just don't make'm like that anymore!

Original location, out of the heat from the engine bay. Heat is a major cause of battery failure.

Fred T: You have that right! Most folks worry about the cold. And the battery draw is often higher when starting on a cold day, but the killer of batteries is heat. More fail in the summer. It is just less painful to pull and swap when the weather is good. Besides, who wants to reach under the battery to change the #5 and #6 spark plugs? Hate reaching over the fender and under the battery to get to those on my buddy's 57. If you hit something that can get to the battery support, well you might want to change where you are headed. Or at the very least, how you are getting there.

On my 52 Good humor truck I have the auxiliary battery for the inverter setup using the 55 battery holder that's located on the fire wall. I just purchased the battery insulator to protect the deep cycle battery just as you mention from the heat.

Mine is under the passenger side floorboard. Have to take 2 screws out of the floor mat strip if you want to jump start it, but, then, what are the chances of there being another 6V vehicle around to jump start it anyhow. Put it in 3rd and start pulling. On the plus side, I suspect the location protects it from the engine heat, making it last longer as well.

Mine is under the hood on the passenger side - that is the way the truck came. It really is in the way to get at the last 2 spark plugs. Considering moving it back to where it belongs.
