Our 53 is in the running for TOM over on 67-72ChevyTrucks...

Not sure the last time a stock suspension, straight 6 powered AD truck made it into the vote- I looked at a few previous polls and haven't seen one.

I'm in third place right now (#9), quite a ways down, but still have a few days until voting ends on the 1st.

If anyone is also a member over there (gotta be a member to vote), and wants to toss in a vote for us #9, that would be appreciated!

This is really off topic but I'll leave it here until the 1st. Good luck.

I had to play some silly games and wait a few days to register but you got my vote.

SeatGuy, Good luck! I like your truck.

I am kinda surprised that the other 53 has so many more votes than anyone else, especially in a 67-72 forum. LOL.

Thanks guys! I appreciate it!

Only the name of the site is 67-72, they have subforums for all years- however their primary audience (at least for the early years) is heavily modified...

The 53 thats in 1st place is cool for sure, but IMO its not exactly along the lines of the poll "I can't beleive you actually drive that thing" since it was a big $$ professional build. Modern frame, LS engine, down to metal redo, all the patina was created. Not to dismiss the work at all, its amazing- but my question is why WOULDN"T you drive it anywhere.

mine and pretty much all the rest that were in the running, you really do have to be a little crazy to drive em.

I took mine on a 40 mile each way trip to the state patrol for inspection with little more than a few spins around the block after sitting for 21 years! No working wipers, giant holes in the floor... But am I driving it? Hell yeah... Crazy for doing it? Also Hell yeah.

Anyway... :-) I enjoy the other site, but am glad Stovebolt is here to fill in all the "stock" details for the rest of us.

Again, thanks for the votes

I'm a member on that forum and looked through all of the entries.

I was familiar with oossuuu754's truck already, and it's much along similar lines as mine (S-10 frame and modern power train with patina). I can say driving my truck all over the place, I get exactly that question A LOT, people just don't believe you actually drive something that looks rusty on the outside, no matter how reliable and drivable it is. I drive my truck as much as I can, but perception is that it looks like it isn't roadworthy. Yours was a close second, but I can really relate to his.

People are amazed that a truck like oossuuu754's or mine will do highway speeds (I always get the "How fast does it actually go?" question), and for myself that resonates with the poll question.

Your truck is great too, I'm glad to see that you drive it and use it as is!
