I need a little help. My work space is VERY restricted and I'm thinking of buying a set of the wheel dollies that are in the Hemmings. There are a few brands and prices. I could get the least expensive, but I want them to be a set that will not have problems when it comes to moving. If you have a good set, which company did you get them from? Did you get the locking casters? Is it okay to work under the truck with it on the dollies? Thanks guys. Any recommendations would be great.

51bolt: Got mine from Northern. Would not live with out them. Have a block under each axle where the spring U Bolts are this gives me another 8" height no rims or tires. Can move it around shop with ease!!! Sooo Nice to move out in center when working on it or push it out of road when I want to do something else.

Owned for about 3 years, have sledge hammered, welded, torched. Holds does not move. Mine does not have locking brake system I feel I do not need it. popcorn The Truth is Out There (Hope this Helps)

Popcorn you have me confused? Are you using the wheel dollies with some sort of modifacation? Pictures we need pictures.

Brian: Ok I took the rims and tires off so they were not in my way to work on brakes, axles, ext. When I did this it made everything to low sitting inside the wheel dollys. So what I did was take a cement block and wheel dolly placed at 4 corners under the axles. Raised it aprox. 12 to 14" off of floor. Because my Chest fell into my drawers (belly getting bigger) I can't bend over like I used to.
If you are going to leave tires and rims on Then just place a dolly under each tire. Great Idea for moving around shop and out of the road. Couldn't do it with out them.

I have a set of dollies that I got six years ago from Harbor Freight (I call this company my chinese warehouse). They are excellent, and they are sold by other companies also, and they can be found for around $100 for a set of four.

They dollies are completely safe to use while working under the truck (as long as your floor is level). Also, I can easily move the truck around on the dollies by myself.

I get a little extra height, when needed, by placing a 2"x12"x2' piece of lumber between the top reinforcement bars and I get about 4-5" extra height
