To my knowledge it'll have to go through a "safety" inspection at a local shop. My only issue is will they question the diesel that's in there even though that year emissions were not a requirement? I have seat belts and all of the daily drivable features with proper lighting, horn, etc. To my understanding PA classifies the vehicles based on weight. Has anyone had any success's or failures with regular tags?

Brad (A PA resident would need to answer your question- I just was curious what your state DMV might say about it & looked it up; edit #2 It may just be a "street rod" but look in these links. )

If the truck was just had a engine and trans swap I would do a normal state inspection. recheck your wheel bearing after the inspection they will pull one front and one rear wheels to check your brake lining. | | | | Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 112 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2010 Posts: 112 | My plan was to talk to the local station and tell them what I have, what I need as far as forms if they're needed, along with things I may have to add or fix before I bring it in for inspection. Its really not a "show" or completely stock truck, but all of the upgrades within the mind of keeping it stock.

I'm glad I live in Va. They barely looked at the title when I changed it and bought antique tags for my 58 gmc. Larry

Larry W with Antique tags in PA. you cannot haul anything in the truck. which means you can not haul 1 2x4 home from lowes. | | | | Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 362 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2010 Posts: 362 | Wow. That sucks. I use my truck to make dump runs and even pull my small camper. There may be some mileage limitations insurance wise but my speedometer doesn't work anyway. In Va we don't even have to have a state inspection, but you can bet if you get stopped everything better be in good working order.Larry
