I ordered the thermostat and gasket from Jim Carter and there is a large O Ring included. I am not familiar with this O ring and didn't see one taking the old unit out. Is it necessary and if so, where does it go? | | | | | Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2002 Posts: 9,115 | I have never seen an O ring in there. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 63 Wrench Fetcher | | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 63 | I looked on the LMC web site and it shows an O Ring along with the thermostat and gasket so I don't know. Unless someone can tell me different, I don't plan on using it.. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 988 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Feb 2000 Posts: 988 | I believe that the O ring is for some aftermarket Thermostat covers that have a Grove machined into them. They most likely include the O ring to "make sure" to cover all the possibilities.

I think the vendor puts both gaskets so as to cover both applications. I suspect maybe the cost a little more? If you were to buy the thermostat only $8.50 and a $1.00 flat gasket As it probably wouldn't be much more of a difference in cost including the o ring. http://i1305.photobucket.com/albums/s554/icecreamman55/0710ct_15_zchevy_350_engine_zpsvix59j23.jpg[/IMG] _________________________________________________ Steve | | |
