Joined: Apr 2002 Posts: 2,168 | I'm installing my seats and before I do anything hasty I'd like to know a couple things. (Figured I'd post here too as it seems interiors doesn't get as much traffic. )
1. How much structural strength to the cab is provided by the AD seat base/riser platform?
2. Has anybody removed this to install other seats in their AD?
Thanks | | | | | Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 Renaissance Man | | Renaissance Man Joined: Mar 2010 Posts: 10,270 | 1) "MY" opinion is not much if any structural support can be accomplished from above the floor with the simple design of the seat riser, sparsely spot welded to the floor. 2) There are likely more AD trucks on the road right now without the seat riser in place, than those that do (stock versus modified). Fur is about to fly now...  Carl

I decided. I cut it out. I didn't notice anything go "boing" so YAY!
Did I mention I hate spot welds that can't be reached with a spotweld cutter?
I think I irritated the neighbors banging the chisel in there after drilling!! Oh by the way Carl, this cab was in an accident at some point. The seat mounts have been distorted. And I've called my door gaps good enough. This isn't the beauty queen truck!
