The brake pedal in my 1949 Chevy truck is not coming all the way back out after braking. Is this totally controlled by the brake spring or is there an adjustment? Not knowing the pedal was not coming all the way back, my brake lights stayed on draining my battery...

The spring and a little residual MC pressure is all that pulls it back. Maybe it's time for a new spring. While you look, see how the system is generally operating on the brake and clutch pedal cross shaft.

Thanks, can I get a spring replacement locally or is it a speciality part I need to order?

Most parts stores have a universal spring. One end has a straight stem. You cut it to length & bend a hook on it.

They say money can't buy happiness. It can buy old Chevy trucks though. Same thing.
