old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Again, thanks! | | | | Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 385 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2014 Posts: 385 | I was thinking about installing a new cam in my truck and was wondering instead of removing the engine completely can the front fenders, rad brace, inner fenders, grille and front lower rad support all come off as one component easily? I can only see the fender to cab bolts and the 2 rad support bolts holding the entire assembly on. Has anyone removed it like this before? | | | | | Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 924 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Apr 2014 Posts: 924 | What year truck? Some of the models the radiator support is the fender support & vice versa.

Just remove the radiator and front grill, pop the front engine mount loose and raise it a few inches so you can remove the oil pan to access the two bottom bolts of the timing cover and your good to go.
I made 'the change' so I no longer have to drop the oil pan to pull the Cam...
Give me ambiguity or give me something else

My new chrome grill and lower rad support plate was so out of whack i really rather not take it out, thats why i wondering about the full front clip coming off. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,269 | I have removed 54/55 inner/outer fenders, radiator support/cover, and grill assembly as "one piece". Is that called the "front clip"?
It takes 2 or 3 people to do this safely/easily.

It is amazing how few bolts hold the assembled front clip on the truck, especially at the front (two bolts under the radiator support). Carl
