As presently adjusted when the battery is a bit low it sends 30+ amps and torches my fuses. I've tried adjusting the regulator and the tiniest adjustment to the contact plates causes it to cut out and not charge at all. I usually have to re-polarize the generator after too. The cutout relay (behind the BAT terminal) should close at 6.5-6.75 volts, and the voltage regulator (behind the F terminal) should regulate max voltage at 7.5 volts against a fully-charged battery. The current regulator should operate at either 25 or 30 amps, depending on which generator you have. Setting the current regulator at 25 will work with either generator.
All adjustments will reduce slightly when the regulator cover is replaced due to better magnetic conduction, so make all the above adjustments very slightly higher than specified.

Adjusting the contact plate out literally a millimetre drops my current output from over 30 amps to zip. Either a load resister that comes with an ammeter or turn on all the accessories you can. It should get to the rated amps of the gen. & stop there. If it is too high it will fry the gen.

The idea is to create enough current draw to make the current regulator function long enough to get an accurate adjustment.
