I painte my engine about 3 years ago but it was the wrong color. Now that it is out, for a broken crankshaft, I thought I would redo it. What do I need to do to prep it? I am pretty sure that the head will remain in place. Did the bell and the valve cover yesterday. Will second coat it today and maybe do the intake manifold.

Strip it down to bare metal - clean several times with a wax and grease remover - paint it with a self etching primer - then shoot with whatever color you need - you can even use a base/clear urethane if you want.

What would you use to strip it?
