Q #1: I'm gonna purchase the mid motor mount cross over tube. How do I know exactly where to install that mount? What should I base my fore and aft measurements off of for frame positioning?
Q #2: I'm trying to keep her somewhat stock looking. I do intend to tow a 2100 lb travel trailer. Should I upgrade to a repro heavy duty radiator?
Q #3: Should I add a washtub between radiator and motor?

| | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 6,100 | Hy Maddoggee, you haven't said what transmission you're going to use, if you still have the engine rear crossmember in place you could bolt a truck bellhousing to the rear of the engine and mount the rear of the engine to the crossmember. That would locate the engine in its factory location fore and aft, hope that helps. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | the cross member doesn't need to be fixed to the frame beforehand - as 3B says, the stock rear mount can locate the engine position .... also, yes, you'll definitely need a fan shroud the V8 sit too far back from the rad - and a stock rad can probably handle most towing if it's in good shape and conditions aren't severe, otherwise you might want to find a thicker replacement

Fit the biggest auxiliary transmission cooler you can find and NEVER, EVER RUN IN OVERDRIVE WHILE TOWING!
The TV cable adjustment is also extremely critical, so get someone who knows the transmission business well to set up the shift points for you. If you're planning on buying a core transmission and rebuilding it, have your transmission man install the "Corvette" overdrive clutch drum. It has a couple of extra clutch plates.
