I have a 1950 Chevy 1/2 ton. I would like to find the stainless steel windshield trim that came as an option. Does anyone know where you can buy it? Is there a company that sells a reproduction part? Thanks.

Richie...I assume you're asking about the outside windshield SS window trim (deluxe option)...it's available at almost all the top AD aftermarket retailers...Chevy Duty, Jim Carter, Heavy Chevy, etc...you will need, however, to buy and install the deluxe rubber winshield moulding that accepts the SS window trim insert.

That last post made it sound like that trim is being reproduced. I am almost positive it is not. You will have to buy used trim and have it polished. Probably neither will be cheap.

I stand corrected. I had no idea those were being reproduced. Any idea on how the quality is on that trim? Repro parts are fairly famous for poor fit.

Brian...don't specifically know the quality level of this particular item..but Chevy Duty has supplied quality parts to me for the last 10 or so years...so I would tend to give them the benefit of the doubt.

I contacted Chevy Duty for that trim. It was not available 3 weeks ago. I was told it would be available sometime in the future. For $20.00 you can pick it up at old wrecking yards. When you find it in a wrecking yard, make sure you cut the windshield moulding from inside the cab for removal. If it is cut from outside the cab, mouldings can be damaged.

Rats! I had to go away and could not participate in the auction of the trim. I also contacted Chevy Duty. The tech rep told me that the trim they are now advertising may not be available for a year. I was wondering if they use their catalogue as a means to test the market? Possibly, if enbough people call that are interested, perhaps they will get someone to make it?

I guess I need to hit the bone yards if I want it quick. Thanks all!

You may advertise with a wanted post in the swap meet, but you will need to create a new login. We have members who scan that section frequently who have a lot of parts. I think the swapmeet section is important because it gets a lot of visibilty to those who google looking for parts, so please post your want ads there.

I may have been a bit overeager in locking this thread so I am going to unlock it.
