HI, my 57 3100 has the typical fabric bench seat that I guess is standard on this truck. I have been thinking about changing the seating to something more modern looking, whether a different type of bench, maybe with a center console or maybe buckets. I am a little worried that the bench may not be that comfortable for a longer trip. Wondering what some of you guys did and if you did change it out, what vehicle it took it from to fit. The wife and I have done lots of long trips convoying to ATHS Truck Shows in my 1957 Fire Engine. We do about 3000 miles per year and do it sitting on the original seat (had it restored with new burlap, cotton, foam and cloth 13 years ago). We both find it very confortable, it's big and flat allowing us to change positions as we roll along.

I'm building a 56 3100 restorod and thought about getting these seats

but I have reconcidered and based on not having anything bad to say about the stock bench seat, that's what I going to use.

it's upholstery that makes it look modern, and also determines comfort, having your stock seat well redone by a good shop can fix you up .... or you can spend a little less and get a 40/60 bench from a late 80's GM truck like my buddy did - of course than he spent the $$$ on new upholstery in addition it does fit tho, just have to rejig the mounting

I thought about changing my bench for buckets from a Chrysler 300. I reconsidered after doing a test fit. I have seen trucks that have had the 2nd row seats from a Tahoe or Esclade fit nice.

Here is a couple of things to think about. If you change seats and you have the big back window be careful if it electric seating and a high head rest you do not push out the rear window.

I stayed with my stock bench seat and I bought the new upholstery for a supply house here in town and will have my seat rebuilt and that's my choice.

I kept the stock seat in my 55.2 and had it redone.

I go to a salvage yard and buy the bucket seats or bench seats I need from them. You can get some really nice power seats for a good price depending on the seats they run from $150 to $200. I have used seats out of Lexus Acuras, leather Tahoes, leather 2010 Caddilac gtx,99 Honda. All these seats fit perfectly. You can also pick up the center consoles with them and they just give the console to me. The best part is the seats are power seats and heated. And they are not the complicated to wire back up. You have to do some modifications to get the seats and consoles in the truck but hey that is what it's all about right? The owner of the salvage yard only keeps the best seats. And he knows there are folks like me who use them in their projects so he keeps the seats in a warehouse covered. I put a bench seat out of a 99 Silverado in a 55 chevy truck and it fit real nice. And it was way more comfortabvle then the stock seat.

I did just like tracern1. Went to junk yard and got a bench seat in pretty good shape out of a '95 ford lariat for my '62 C-10. About a 100 bucks as I recall. Just be careful to note that the seat form has not rotted.
