The Stovebolt Site Forums The Shop Area Paint and Body Shop Steering wheel/column color?

I need to repaint my steering wheel and column in a 52 Suburban. They look to be grey. Chevs of 40s and others only sell quarts of the grey. (and I don't need that much!) If I knew the color code, I could order a rattle can from Tower or Hirsh. Does anyone know the color code? I think its the same grey as the panel interior. Thanks!

47-53 Suburbans were not painted the same as the trucks when it came to the interior. Original color on the burbs only was a mocha brown.

Well, the rest of the interior *is* mocha brown. But the steering wheel and column are grey. There is a very old turn switch on the column, and the wheel is very worn, so I have no reason to doubt they're NOS. Besides, I kinda like the contrast. I just don't want to have to buy a quart of grey just to paint the wheel... javascript: x()

Jim, judging by the pictures I saw of your burb, it looks like your steering column was painted the standard pickup solid purple,grey,brown color.
The steering column color was originally different than the rest of the interior of the pickup which was a metallic champagne color.

Yes. That color is available from Chevy Duty in a one pint lacquer. Steering wheel was that color as well.

Chevy duty's catalog only lists quarts ($49).

Oops! I thought it was a pint can, but maybe it was a quart. Now I'll have to check and see. The only other places I could have ordered it are Jim Carter and Chevs of the 40's. One thing for sure: Unless you're going into business, you don't need a quart.
