In the attached pic ( Brake line clip ) you can see the clip that I'm interested in. I have replacement brake lines and am wondering how to remove the line from that clip without damaging the clip. I am hoping to re-use it. Do you just pry up the end and slide the brake line out or do you have to remove the bolt from the axle/differential housing? If you do have to remove the bolt, does it ruin the seal on the differential? Remove the bolt/screw and unbend the clip from around the line. Unless it has been bent and unbent many times, it should not break or crack. If it breaks or cracks, you should buy replacement clips.

Just use a 20 penny nail as a bending template and roll the steel around it. I've made a bunch of them that way, and it's almost impossible to tell the difference from an original clip.

If it breaks or is too gnarly when I get it off, that's what I'll do. | | | | | Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jun 2012 Posts: 1,747 | To get to the "other" part of the post, the seal of the gasket under the cover will not be harmed when that bolt is removed. That bolt is too high to have any fluid drain from it so that is a plus. Even a lower bolt can be removed. That is the best way to drain the oil from the beast any way. If you don't want to drain, then put the bolt back in and snug it down. That gasket is cardboard and glued into place most of the time. Hotrod, good suggestion on the 20 penny nail. That and some vice work will get a nice clip in no time.
