ok guys,

i need new wiper blades and this was a typical ''flaps'' item. NOT ANY MORE it seems........

this applies to the split front window 47-54AD .

the new blade has an adapter to connect the new replacement blade to my old ARM. when I use this it extends the
blade by 3/4'' and now hits the center window trim.

if i rotate the new adapter 180º, it's now short by about 1.5'' because of the original bend at the end.

my old SS arm isn't adjustable at least that i have fond as far as the arm moving ''in or out'' only the end has
a 360 degree rotation. if I rotate it .... the blade hits the center trim

buy just the blade ??

what's the answer ??

I would just get the new blades. You can get the from Classic Chevy Truck Parts for $4.95/Each. I have used the universal plastic/rubber blades that can be cut with a utility knife or sheet metal shears, but they don't hold up very well, so I went back to buying the complete blades.

Is it a 10" blade with the pivot in the center?

That would be for 1947-53 wiper blade.

1954/55 wiper blade also is 10" with pivot in center - a different style pivot/connector

The only other factor would be your wiper arms?
Are they the same as original?
Why is an adapter needed/used?

the red arrow shows the adapter now used to connect the original wiper blade ARM to the
newer style wiper blade. the original ARM has a 360 degree rotating adjustment. the adapter holds the original ARM
using the little 'button' found on the original ARM to
the adapter, which then connects to the new blade.
this ADAPTER is as shown 1.0'' long

thus

extending the new blade 1'' NOW hitting the windshield center split trim piece.

The only other factor would be your wiper arms?

........... BY GOLLY ... it DOES FIT the new style wiper arm !! it took a call to tech support ...... and NO Adapter used !!

but we ALL learned something today.
two Riebes auto parts stores, and four counter sale persons && ME learned

That doesn't look like the arm OR the blade on my '51 3100. Maybe a 54 or up?
