Greetings Bolters,

My truck is a 1950 Chevy 3100, but the engine number is from a 1948 engine and I've had to order some brake parts for later 50s models. My truck seems to be a mutt if you will. I started the project by purchasing a chassis, engine, manual tranny, rear diff from a guy who was putting the sheet metal on an S10 frame.

The brake line that was on it was a 3/16 line that left the master cylinder in a single line, crossed over to the passenger side and a T sent one line forward and one to the rear. The forward line went to the passenger front brake and then crossed under the engine mount to the drivers front side. The rear looks to be quite similar to all in that a rubber line connects to a T on the passenger side axle which then goes to each rear tire.

When I look in LMC truck catalog, there are lines for 1947-49, 1950 and 1951. I'm wondering which one to order that would be the same as my original lines. This will allow me to reuse the brass fittings. Seems that some years had a second line coming out of the master to the drivers front wheel.

Thanks in advance.

I have that brake line layout on my 1950 chassis. My kit came from Jim Carter although I did end up modifying the cross over line to the passenger side for a better fit. It seemed too long.

Thanks. I've had a fun time ordering parts with my mutt truck.

You should always be mentally ready to have some lines modified (shortened and re-flared), for too many times a set of pre bent lines arrive with most pieces fitting ok, but that one piece is way too long or not bent correctly.
