Where should I take it off. Do I take the hood off the hinges and leave the hinges on the fire wall? Or do I take the hood and hinges off the fire wall? If this way, can I take the hinges off the hood?
I am afraid there will be an alignment issue. Which will be the easiest and best when I replace the hood and have to align the hood with the fenders and cab?

To help alignment you can drill a 1/8" hole through the hinge and hood. You might just make sure you line the bolt washer up to their original place if you are not painting the hinges. hinges left on the hood when you paint. If you
want to paint the hinges remove them next. It
won't be hard to realign as long as you have

Do not under any circumstance take off your hood.
It is too late for me but perhaps I can save someone else. It sounds like I am just gonna have to cover the engine compartment with plastic and tape because the hood will never be right again.
Someone should write the Tech Tip: "the most difficult part opf the restore/rebuild hood replacement."
The first line would be ....
Leave it on.
