pulled the oil pan and found a small amount of coolant, cant tell if it it's from the block or the head,i remember when replacing the head gasket one of the valves had some rust on it,also a lot of moisture coming out of the exhaust when it was running.no leaks on the outside, wondering if the water jacket has rusted though,i'm thinking it might be game over for this motor, any suggestions?

Sounds like it might be a crack in the combustion chamber. Check around the combustion chamber with the rusty valve was in.... Or maybe a leak in the head gasket...

Is the cylinder head off? If so, it can be magnafluxed or pressure tested for cracks. If not, splice the coolant inlet and outlet hoses together and pressurize the water jacket, then look for leaks. DO NOT pressurize the radiator- - - -that old one will blow out long before there's enough pressure to show up a leaky head or block!
