I was going to have my current one rebuilt and I was wondering if buying the rebuilt one would be a better deal? I'm not sure how much it will cost to rebuild one. Thanks!

I'm still thinking about 1950's prices when a rebuilt starter or generator was around 20 bucks! What kind of warranty is he offering?

Your call but make sure it was rebuilt correctly and not just freshened up! I've seen 6v and 12v 'rebuilt' generators range from free(not needed by owner) to $150 the past few months.
Parts + labor charge will have you very close to $100 on rebuilding yours, with several variables taking the price either way.
Also, I'm not sure what the inflation rate is up there, but that might be a steal of a deal in NYC!

$100 sounds good if a professional rebuild. As asked above, is is warranted and does the seller have the rebuild receipt?
By the way, Jerry, $20 in 1955 would be about $175 now. Sounds like you overpaid?
