I have an original (except for the alternator/coil) 1950 running 235 motor with a column shift 3 sp that I'm replacing and would like your opinion on what a fair price for it is?

Thanks in advance

I just bought a running complete 235 for 300.00 seemed fair to me.

A 1950 with a stick would have been a 216.
Make sure what you have before scrapping it.

I don't need a third motor... but for a complete low pressure 235 with transmission I wouldn't pay more than $100. But it would have to be in driving distance. Without knowing if the block/head is cracked its a gamble.

scrapper would pay, at best $10/100 for mixed iron/steel. So figure $50-70 less gas and time.

Curious why you would recommend scrapping a running Stovebolt engine?
$100 for the engine and $100 for the transmission is what can be expected to receive from someone looking for them around here.

always the best place to get a starting price Carl, no point in asking less than scrap value wink

haven't heard anyone in my area asking for an early 235 [216] in years

I've been scavenging up splasher engines for quite some time. Eventually I plan to build up a few and offer them to collectors/restorers who want period-correct engines.
