It was pointed out that there seem to be a large number of Bolters in Spring, TX and surrounding parts of the north side of Houston, myself included. I'd love to meet some of you who live nearby, swap info, check out each others' vehicles, and make friends. Anybody else who would want to join is welcome, definitely no intentions of excluding anyone. Just thinking since we're kind of concentrated up here, that it would be easiest to try to do something locally to meet up. I had posted in the other thread (before deleting my post and starting this thread): Are we interested in getting together at someone's house or shop, or would everyone rather meet somewhere to eat and socialize? It would be fun if everyone who has a running/driving vehicle could bring it for show and tell. | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 | Let's consider this a brainstorming session....I was thinking if we had access to a cover with electricity for a shop light where if someone had a truck on a trailer could pull under and we could gather around the vehicle. We have to be careful not to encroach on the host if we do it at someones house. Not to be antisocial, but my preference would be to focus on the trucks first. Maybe if we do it early enough, a group could head out for eats and drinks afterwards. My thoughts guys, we'll go with the majority.

I would be happy to drive it almost anywhere. I won't take it on the freeway because it is restored to original and won't go that fast. Did I see one of you in a red 5 window getting gas at HEB across from Klein High a couple of days ago?

They are doing a Valentine's Day cruise, but my prettier half is not interested in doing that one, so we'll wait until they're back up and running with their regularly scheduled weekends. Typically there is enough room at the northeast corner of their show area that we could park together, and save some spots if we know others are coming. The light isn't great, but once the time changes we'll have natural light later.
Mark, I'm with you on the freeway driving... I've taken mine to work a couple of times (Spring to Greenspoint) and just get over and try to stay out of the way. Wasn't me at HEB- mine's a black 3-window. Not sure I've seen a red 5-window around.

That way you don't get blocked in and can leave when you are ready. Ill check the schedule for the first event. My wife and I have been itching to take Ol Joe out for a drive. I will look into the Valentines Day cruise. The Mrs. agreed to it. Too bad you won't be there. Hope to see you soon. This weekend should be pretty nice too.

Another thought for later is that hopefully some of you guys are familiar with the Conroe Spring swap meet. Perhaps we could snag an area for bolters to coalesce. We might even talk Peggy into sending us a dozen T-shirts and calendars and send proceeds back to HQ. We'll see.

If you can make it, I'll be in the northeast corner. Ol Joe is a 51 1/2 ton and is Forrester Green. Hope to see you then. Mark

Mark, is Ol Joe stock, or customized? I've seen a green AD out there before, has some kind of logos on the doors, metalflake green firewall, lowered, and a smallblock swap I think... I've talked to the owner, but can't remember his name. | | | | Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2013 Posts: 1,084 | Wow already next weekend, no time to plan for that. I was thinking it was a little later in the year.

I added a second brake/running light so people will see the light. Six volt, cotton loom, babbit pounder, 3 on the tree, no radio. The truck you describe is not me. I haven't seen that one. Still looking for that red 5 window (52 or 53). I should have stopped and said hello. Next time, I will. Is yours up and running or still in the process? BTW, I'm on Louetta near Champions. Are you Close? Mark

My place is near Navasota.

It's currently basically all stock except for a 12v conversion and a Cherry bomb muffler, but I've got some period hop-up stuff planned and have a new wiring harness and turn signals for it I need to install, among other things.
Tim, a cruise over to your place sounds like fun.

Mark, If your truck is green, I think I met you at the car show about a year ago. Thanks for recommending this forum.

I can get the back parking lot at my church for us to meet. It is on the north-west side of town, 290 and Telge (near Hwy. 6). Just to get some ideas out there I was thinking we could meet on a Saturday starting around 8 or 9 and go to about noon. That way we can meet and then head out to eat. Plenty of good restaurants nearby. We can do it any weekend but to give the most people time to get ready what if we aim for mid October. Either the 10th or 17th? Let me know and we can firm it up. If it sounds good I can put out some more info.
