Hey truck fans. My '66 C-10 has got rust in the two front fenders (big surprise), and I just want to buy and install whole new fenders (Chevy Duty, LMC, etc.).

My dad, who's an old Ford buff said that often reproduction fenders are not as "crisp" or "sharp" as the originals - by which he means that the tooling is not as precise as the original, resulting in a repro fender that's inferior.

Has anyone been unsatisfied with whole fenders they've bought from the repro Chevy guys?

I'd rather do whole new fenders than deal with patch panels, and hammer 'n' dolly.

Thanks!

Scoob - don't know about the 60-66 ones, but if they're made by the same folks as make the 55-59 fenders, they'll be great - also saw some 67-72 repro sheetmetal at the bodyshop next door, and they were perfect - everything I've seen or heard about nowadays is the right weight and shape, so dad might be judging by old news - or maybe Ford stuff just comes out too much like the originals grin grin

They are OK if you buy a pair, the front is stamped a little bit diff, I could tell a difference between the new one & the OE fender on the other side. I ended up paying big bux for a NOS so it would match. The repros are thinner than orignal(no surprise) but seem to fit OK. Brian

Put repro fiberglass on my 52 GMC and was VERY, VERY disappointed. Would have been less work to fix the one's I had. Metal should be different I would expect.

I used reproduction steel front fenders on my 59 and was very happy.

The same bodyshop is using a set of Goodmark doors on a 1972 and they are not very happy with them. The window frame was very poorly attached and they ended up removing it and then welding on a used one. After they had painted and installed the door they can't get it to line up now that they have installed the door rubber. It appears that the door is bending from the pressure of the door rubber.
