OK gents - Detailed planning underway. So far I understand the following brothers have intentions on participation IF the weather cooperates:

Jim Schmidt
Cosmo
John Milliman
Mike Roache
Bill Marlow
Chris Sweet
Doug Hambone

Have I missed anyone?

I have a few locals who will participate as well. For the sake of planning anyone attending bring your sleeping rolls and a pillow. If you have a cot or blow-up mattress we have plenty of room and better for you.

I will be providing liquid refreshments and food. If there is interest in that junkyard again I can make arrangements.

Please PM me with any specific questions. - Joe

As I recall the passenger seat is the folding-beach-chair version. Looking forward to the fieldtrip.

John,

I'll ride as long as there are enough seat belts for everybody...

When are you leaving and returning? Looks like 3hr 15min from my place...

Is Roache going?

Brothers

I am sad to inform the Brotherhood that I will be unable to attend. I have spoken to Brother Amtrak Joe, not only as the gracious host of the event, but also the Brother whom I feel can most understand my absence.

Fear not as in any ODSS event all motorcade and security details will be under full security compliance and all parties will be on top alert. Under Presidential Command the grounds are under proper security sweep by no other than our top man, Brother Napcoman and his associates.

Carry on.

It is with deep sadness and remorse that we will not be blessed with your presence. Your absence is clearly understood and most noble on all fronts.

We will however split your liquid refreshments and food among honored guests.

Amtrakjoe, I am off work between 1700hrs 30Jan15 and 0800hrs 1Feb15. As such, that leaves 15 hours for travel (6 hours), commiserate (3 hours), and sleep (6 hours). Please, could you provide the Dacey Pub coordinates? Why? My ETA is currently 2000hours. Thanks. V/r, Nick

Gents: I have a few questions:

What time do you plan to arrive?

Is there any interest in a visit to the crazyman's junkyard?

President Cosmo: Please bring the traveling single malt kit. I will provide the nectar of the gods (mothers milk) to fill the glasses.

Bring cots and sleeping rolls. There is a carpeted floor upstairs to lay out. First come- first serve, otherwise the shop.

Nick: We will be at the shop. I see us drinking my beer rather than Daceys.......unless we run out.

Y'all,

Just got off the horn w/ Grigg, who is going elsewhere this weekend. Heard a rumor (third hand intel) that John may be under the weather and not making the trip.

I need a ride. Since Sweet is not in the mix I was thinking of driving out to John's and riding out with the MD Contingent. Mike R, you out there? Have room for a passenger? Could mayhaps leave my truck at John's.

I will check in with John on Thursday to fine tune, but plan was to start out sat AM first thing in hopes to get to the crazyman junk yard before lunch. As I recall 3 hr drive. Cosmo either way we can ride together and I think we can go from HQ if John is not able. Better yet, spend friday night with HB or JM to save drive time on Sat.

Good morning all. Glad to confirm that the earlier reports of my demise were somewhat premature.

Joe -- Gort is running fine (as far as I know), but I would greatly prefer to not expose it to wintery/salted/brined highways if I don't have to.

Cosmo -- HB and I touched base last night -- You are welcome to come up Friday evening if you like and stay here or at HB's so we can shove off early Saturday AM.

Mike B -- Between the Mechanicsville Squad and the Headquarters Crew, there will be a seat (a real seat that's actually bolted to the vehicle floor with a seatbelt and everything) for you in one of the vehicles. It is still my intention to drive up with some equipment specially requested for the job.

Regards all,
John

John - I agree on Gort. No need to expose the precious flower to salt. Pumpkin seeds are bad enough. Running out tonight to secure cold beverages. I hear we won't need ice........I will call the junkyard and make arrangements for the tour.

Gents,

I just realized - I have enough sockets and open-ends to hurt myself when I'm alone. Can someone pack a bag of 1/2" drive stuff and maybe some open-ends? Too many wrenchers - not enough wrenches. I have the acetylene tank and gas, a 3" cut-off tool.

And don't forget your sleeping rolls and pillows

Thanks - Joe

President Cosmo - don't forget the medicine kit.

Ok so I needs some coordinates for The Amtrackjoe World Headquarters. Planning on making the trip now that the dust has settled a but from a long week.
I should be there around 9:30ish am. Probably need to bug out by 8 on Sunday unfortunately. Got lots going on, especially if we are going to get the weather moving in Sunday night/Monday.
Look forward to doing some tear down!

Joe -- Yes, ditto on the coordinates -- sent a text so you can just reply all to the text. Don't have Nick's cell # though.

Last call on the tools -- just bringing my usual go bag. Did you need me to bring airtools of any kind?

Shop is heated, ja?

"Single digits? Wow."
That is not the right attitude to get loyalty from your troups on a mission.
Toughen up and show them the way.

Other than that, have a good time.
I do like what I read here and look foreward to meeting everyone.

At least we won't have to worry about snakes ...

I am about to go offline here at HQ. The President and I field tested the "antifreeze" for tomorrow -- you all will like it. But we're not wobbly ... unlike two other bolters we know who are mixing beer (prolly 10 oz Natty Bo) with paint fumes ... Southern Maryland rednecks ...

Check in via text with everyone at blast off.

Hey Sweet, Great time, as I came when all that was to do was frame disassembly and staging front clip, cab, and completely bare frame outside on some flatbed trailers. Chow, conversations, and seeing ODSS members was a blast too!

I just got home and grabbed a shower to wash all the rust chunks out of my ears. Great time for sure . Joe and his friends are great hosts and kept us well feed and hydrated. Joe has a nice place to work on his trucks, nice big shop, plenty of places to crash and top security too!
There will be lots of great pictures coming soon and even some very special video.
We even did a little junk yardin yesterday. It was about 20 degrees and windy but that didn't stop us from wondering Crazy Junk yard man's place. Lots of vintage iron but a little pricey.
Joe, thanks for everything. I look forward to a return trip to put it all back together.

To all that participated in this wonderful gathering. Great time, so nice to see everyone again. Nice to see so many with common interest! Not as much the beverages but the love of old metal. Joe thank your friend "John" again for a superb meal. What a way to end the day. See you all, hopefully at homecoming!!

Take care and thanks to the great efforts that was made to make this site(Stovebolt) what it is! See you all soon.

A good time, Joe! Thanks for the hospitality -- great support from the Philly Crew.

Great time as always with the ODSS.

Trip home was a lot more pleasant, temp wise.

Here are some initial photos

Please add yours to the collection if you took any. PM me for the log in for that account.

Thanks for the pics John, looks like a good time.
Looking forward to meeting this group.
But I have one question.
There was only one picture with you in it, and you were not dirty.
Inquiring minds need to know?
