I'm curious to know if a "Rear Valance" came only as an original equipment option on AD trucks or was this something that was made available from the aftermarket?
Either way, has anyone ever bought and installed one?
I really like the look and am curious as to how it actually attaches and where.

Pickup or ??

A rear "valance" was standard on A-D panel body trucks, but not on pickups.

GM did not sell a rear "valance" for A-D pickups, but there is at least one style after market rear "valance".

I think Patrick's sold a rear valance for the pickup bed, but I cannot find it.

If that's the type your referring to it looks like they use the rear Bumper bolts

I think the part shown by DadS50 is the one sold by Patrick's.

As you can see the price really varies for what looks to be the same product. Classic Parts Of America has the best price.

Yes, quite a price variation $120 to $190, for the obviously
same part. When it comes to punching out sheet metal, there
has to be only one source because of the cost of the dies
and limited production.
That's why my first choice for almost everything is Classic
Parts with JC running a close second and The Filling station
running neck and neck with Chevs of the 40's bringing up the
rear. I call them my top four when ever anyone asks.

Not stock of course but it do clean up the back end real nice.
If I were into customizing I'd definitely use one.

Mar-K also sells a smooth rear pan without the splash apron
for a hunert bucks. Mar-K Catalog gotta look up rear pan.

Ok thank you for all the information everyone.
I now know that this piece, whatever it may be called, was not an O.E. part but... I still like the look of them and will buy one soon.I have a local supplier up here in Southern Ontario, Canada, that sells them for $150, American dollars though, but even with the exchange rate, it's still better for me to buy it here.
