His website isn't working anymore. Ill try to contact by his name. This rack was Very Reasonable!! Direct from a VW swap meet. It wasn't a direct fit,,,some tweaking to make it fit. | | | | | Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,519 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2001 Posts: 1,519 | www.vintagewarehouse.comPrices have really changed since I bought mine 6-7 yrs ago. | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | | | | Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 13 New Guy | | New Guy Joined: Oct 2010 Posts: 13 | The most appropriate rack for a 1948 Suburban would be an original Carpac rack. These aren't easy to find though, especially in good condition and in the longer length model that looks best on the Suburban's. Most are shorter racks for the wagons. This company makes a reproduction of the original Carpac racks. Not cheap, but they look nice. http://www.classicracks.com/index.htm | | | | | Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 Bubba - Curmudgeon | | Bubba - Curmudgeon Joined: Sep 2001 Posts: 29,270 | | | | | | Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 328 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jul 2007 Posts: 328 | Make sure you have at least a 7 foot tall garage door! Esp. if it's at stock ride height. mike

My 7' tall opening garage needs to have its door lifted about an inch with an unloaded 1954 Suburban that has wider diameter tires. The raised door's lower-edge hangs a little below the opening.
