Alrighty folks brain picking time.
I've got my orig rims and ply tires on my burb....all very flat. I've searched the forum and cant seem to find info SO.....Anybody here recommended some inexpensive rims/tires I can slap on? For transport and keeping the storage place at bay. I thought I had all this info saved on my laptop....but since someone stole that...back to square one. Le sigh.
Thanks.

As you intend to eventually restore it to original, why not remove all four correct rims/tires, have rims sandblasted and painted (red being a practical choice unless you know what color you will eventually refinish the vehicle) then INSTALL FOUR NEW TUBES & re-install the old bias ply tires?

If they are the original 6-lug rims, just about any wheel from a Japanese pickup has the same bolt pattern. For instance, Chevy LUV (Isuzu), lots of Toyota pickups including early Land Cruisers, Mitsubishi (Dodge Ram 50), Ford Courier (Mazda), etc.

For transport/storage purposes, just about any of them will be adequate.

I temporarily had the spare from my 2003 Savana 2500 on the '53 panel. The bolt pattern hasn't changed in 50 years.

yeah it has all 5 original 6 lug rims and tires with innertubes and bias plys. Ive got to put some jack stands under her to give her the appearance of "good tires" or the storage place will prob have an issue. I just want to have something on there so when I pull them off its not so obvious.

As far as red, when my grandad got it, it was school bus yellow. he then painted it aircraft green or blue with white rims.

Im thinking I may either go with black, or to a cream color.

I thought you are seeking an inexpensive solution which is why I suggested purchase 4 new tubes and mount them in your orig. tires and correct rims and with a little attention, those shd hold air for years. Why acquire four mis-matched rims & tires which will add to your storage woes?

In 1954, Chevrolet Suburban wheels would probably have been black.

WHATEVER! essence of the suggestion was that to remove tires & ancient tubes from the CORRECT rims, then refinish those CORRECT rims in whatever color the fellow likes, to prevent further rust, then install 4 new inner tubes + the crappy old tires, might be as cost-efficient as shopping around for something that will fit, just to support the vehicle & appease the owner of the storage facility

You could go to a local salvage or check craigslist for some wheels and tires. Then later down the road figure out what you want on it permanently.

wow. Ok....as she sits she is on her 4 original rims with tubes and tires.
1. I want to take those off so I can strip and refinish them, but in order to do so, I cannot have her sitting on jack stands or blocks.
2. If I get 4 donuts on cheapie rims that gives her the benefit of 1. not sitting on the ground, or blocks and 2. not grabbing the wrong attention.
Yes, I am trying to keep this low cost, which is why I suggested donuts.
The problem with the old tire is theyve been flat so they have a perm flat shape AND are dry rotted, so if I put new tubes in theyd get worn/pinched in the open spots.

Sometimes I wonder if having a kid would have been cheaper and easier. smile

Both are expensive but if it takes you this long to decide on blowing up your tires, then you shouldn't even consider the task of changing diapers

That comment was unnecessary.
He clearly stated he needed to have tires and wheels on the truck at all times. He also stated his concern with blowing up the old tires.
Forums are all about asking for and getting opinions. Different opinions.
Personally I would not even consider putting old tires on wheels after spend the time effort and money to have them sand blasted and painted. Even temporary. Too much risk of chipping and scratching during mounting. But that's just my opinion....
I would think given the that the same bolt pattern has been used for years you should be able to find something fairly easily that will do the job.
Good luck.

My truck has 15" steelies that are supposed to be from a '60s C10. If you could scare up a set of something similar, a mom and pops type tire shop might be able to get you some used 15" tires to slap on there and hold air while you refinish the stock wheels.
