I need a longer line due to remote mounting of the canister. I took the line to several hydraulic hose shops and they can't match up the swivel end that threads into the filter. Does anyone know where to get that fitting? | | | | Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,597 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Sep 2006 Posts: 3,597 | Many of the original fittings on these trucks were made by Weatherhead have you tried one of their distributors? | | | | Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 1 Moderated | Moderated Joined: Jun 2013 Posts: 1 | Brad 1st time on the forum so bear with me...I too am looking for some advice on my 54 , 3100 1/2 w/235. I found a NOS AC canister filter kit in the box - came with canister, and two hoses and instructions, my isue- NO fittings... tee off engine( #107 tee) as noted in AC instructions that attached to block with supply to both the canister and the in-dash guage is missing. Looking for this TEE fitting. | | | | Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Oct 2006 Posts: 1,847 | these are nothing special, I don't know exactly what you need, but Napa should have it all. You will find while working on these trucks that you have to find/make a lot of your own things. Use your own common sense, think things out a bit. It isn't really like newer cars where everything comes as a unit or a set. | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 28,674 | That swiveling 1/8" pipe thread fitting is a scarce one. Here's a work-around. Install a brass adapter into the filter housing with a 1/8" pipe male thread and a #4 (1/4") female inverted flare. Then use a 1/4" inverted flare male fitting on the filter end of the flex hose.
The engine block end can use a non-swiveling 1/8" pipe male fitting. Jerry

You could use a pipe sealant (sparingly, or teflon tape) on pipe-thread fittings, especially on brass to cast .
