See the directions here:
http://chevy.oldcarmanualproject.com/accessories/1951am/51aim65.htm
There are existing holes in the door for this installation.
You can see them clearly in this picture on the square raised area below the oblong hole.

While I an really appreciative of any answer I receive here on the bolt, I was on the phone trying to close a deal on a set of steel arm rests off a 53 Desoto, which seemed like they might work on my 52 Chevy truck, that is why I needed centered measurement on a pinch. Was not able to find the answer I was looking for in your reference. But when I got home I measured it and it looks real close at a 6" centered measurement and the Desoto was at 5 3/4. I really would like to have metal vs. plastic, so the search continues, thank you again, HUGH

49 to 52 chevy delux car arm rest will fit and are metal

Info credit from post on other site. Deadzonetrucking. MotherTrucker

Good luck

The repos truck plastic arm rest I've purchased from classic parts have held up well for 4 years with not problems. They are actully made very well.

I have no first hand knowledge the info will work , but the person who made the post is very knowledgable and I've purchased parts from him in the past.

A least it gives you something to look for to compare

The car armrest has a stainless trim

I believe I have a set of Buick arm rests that are an exact fit, all metal with the exception of the padding and cover. I'll take a picture if interested. I've had these on for several years and they are excellent.

pic one, Buick arm rest

pic 2, showing metal underside cover

pic 3, topside, easy to recover but ok for now (ha ha, 4-5 years)

Sorry, no Denny I don't. I do remember searching 'arm rests' on eb@y for months armed with the on center measurement. If the 'oc' was not mentioned in the sellers info, I asked. My thinking was that General Motors wouldn't go too far outside the box during the 40's-50's for a simple add on like this and I would have success. As you can see from the pictures, there are three screws holding on that metal cover underneath and the two machine stovebolts securely fastened to the dedicated females in the door.

Armrest without cover.

Cover affixes to armrest with three screws.

IMHO people generally under value the importance of a good arm rest/door pull. In the fall-winter when the window is up one pulls the door with the inside door opener which it is not really made to perform that task. In the months when a window is normally open the lower window sill can be used as a door pull leading to grime and wear of paint. After all, these are farm trucks in their souls and the aforementioned concerns were of little importance to the original owners.

Thanks for the extra pictures, I'm gonna keep them in mind if I
ever run across those in the bone yard.
I've had a set of the repro's on my '50 for nearly 10 years and
pull the door shut with them all the time. No problems yet,
they are actually more solid than the ones on my '93 GMC.
