Picked up a pretty nice hvlp gravity fed gun at a swap meet, one small problem trying to get some dried paint off of it. Maybe some acetone or laquer thinner? Oh another question my instructions on mixing surface primer is hard to read it looks like 4 parts primer to ? 1 part hardner, the ? is what I can't read, THE BRAND IS ppg.

Can you search the web for the P-sheet from PPG? Are you using K38 or what? It won't hurt to try lacquer thinner or some red scotchbrite.

soak the parts in lacquer thinner for a few minutes or more as necessary. Anything except 2 part epoxy will loosen right up.

I will disassemble my guns once or twice a year and soak them in lacquer thinner 24-48 hours and scrub them with a red scotchbrite...

K38 mixes 4:1 http://www.benspaintsupply.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/RestTrainingDoc2.pdf

Really depends on what primer you have as to what it mixes with. Also, it doesn't list it on the P sheet but you can thin K38 with DT reducer if you need to. Makes it go on smoother. My method...

1st coat of surfacer Slicksand Block with 80 or 180 depending on quality of body work
2nd coat of surfacer 4:K38 1:K201 Block with 280-320
3rd coat of surfacer 8:K38 2:K201 1:DT870 Block with 320 then 500

Ready for paint!
