I'm hooking up the 6 volt generator and need help identifying the capacitor looking thing.

It's screwed into the case and has a lead to connect it to one of the therminals. I have a post marked "F", the other is unmarked.

Anyone know which post to attach it?

F = Field terminal

It is most likely a radio noise-suppression condenser (figure 57).

DO NOT attach a condenser to the field circuit. Unless you're running an original-equipment AM radio, the condenser on the Arm. terminal is not required. It was there to filter out RF frequencies created by the commutator bars of the armature.

No radio in the 3600. I'll remove the condenser.
