I'm finally getting around to reassembling my 53. It's only taken me 22 years to get to this point. I installed the freshly rebuilt 261 and started installing all of the accessories that I have purchased over the years.

It seems that every modification adds numerous challenges. For example, I'm installing an Old Air A/C kit and I've hit a road block. My a/c bracket that I purchased from Steve (Buffalo Enterprises) fits and looks awesome, but the bracket is very close to the water pump heater hose outlet port. I wanted to install a 90 elbow so I could run a heater core hose and tee off of it to run a line to my intake manifold cooling plate.

Why is it when you think your close to finishing your project, the final stage takes as long as the first hundred stages.

Over the past couple months, I've been able to install the bed (except for the wood), camaro rearend (which still needs to be rebuilt), running boards, engine and T-5 transmission (thanks to Jay "Lugnutz" and others), and front disc brakes.

Any advice on how to install front, rear and side glass would be appreciated. I purchased all new glass, rubber and felt. My old side glass was so bad that I bought lower glass channels. I have no idea how to install the new channels to the glass. I've searched for videos on YouTube and Google, but no luck.

If anyone is bored and needs a project to apply your expertise, feel free to stop by and lend a hand. I've been turning wrenches on this project as much as time will allow. Extra motivation is the baby on the way in February.

I'm sure you'll get through this and look back with great satisfaction. I think I already shared info about the T5 installation. I have a brand new DIY section on my website that shows each step from the pilot bushing to the rear end ( but it's not quite done yet since I'll need to add a few more pictures. )

Some folks choose hex drive bolts to mount the T5 to the bell and that may indeed be an easier solution than standard hex head bolts which can be a real challenge to get a socket onto the head, especially the PS top bolt.

I got the T5 bolted up, but I haven't purchased a shifter or hooked up the clutch pedal. I'm planning to bolt in the enter floor panel today. Then I can measure for the shifter parts. It's slow going but at least I'm scratching something off of the list each weekend. My weekday after work hours has been limited due to business travel. I did use hex head bolts for the top mounts and grade 8 regular bolts for the lower.

I think I've installed/uninstalled these carbs at least 5 times. Getting the fuel lines and throttle brackets in the best place has been a challenge for me. I've looked at pictures to compare how others installed their dual carbs, but most pictures do not show details as they are too far away.

Back to the shop this weekend. I may try installing the glass.
