Hope to change the trany, transfer case and diff fluids this weekend in my 69 Chev C10 4x4. Any negative (or positive) comments regarding the use of synthetic oils (Amsoil)?
Rememended weights?

What a difference!!! In the real cold, which Northern Minnesota tends to get, you could still push the truck around by hand, where the old stuff got so solid yo could hardly move it at all. It was hard starting out before the change, but much easier after. I can't help but think the mileage is better. We're approaching 20 years later now, and my brother is still beating on the truck. Not bad for a late 70's **** .  | | |

It seems to run smoother than the organic oil. I just changed oil yesterday, and I realized I had run it for more than 5000 miles. About twice what I intended to go for. It was dirty but had not broken down. It ran a lot better with fresh oil, though.
Every 25 years I like to rebuild that 292 just for GP

Used Amsoil 75-90w gear oil.
Will attack the diffs this weekend.
BTW, I am still looking for a tailgate.
