I have a 53 chevy truck I'm putting my steering wheel back on does anyone know where the spring goes on the steering wheel . Is it steering wheel then horn contact then spring ? Does anyone have a assembly diagram ?

See figure 2 at the bottom of the page. The spring goes under the steering wheel, and rides on the eat of the mast jacket bearing to provide preload on it. Without the spring in the proper spot, the upper steering shaft will be sloppy.

Ok kool so slide the spring down the shaft then the wheel horn retainer and nut ? Is there a washer under nut I don't remember pulling on off ..
