I traced the hot wire from the blower motor and found the other end loose. It was soldered so I knew it broke loose from its connector. Well I found the connector. It has a fusible link connected to the ignition switch. I disconnected it from the ignition switch and it has a 14A fuse in it. My truck has been converted to 12V yet isn't a 14A fuse typical with a 6V system? What do I do? I have looked at the different part suppliers and cannot find the fusible link that plugs into the ignition switch. | | | | | Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 Cruising in the Passing Lane | | Cruising in the Passing Lane Joined: Feb 2002 Posts: 12,029 | there were no "fusible links" in those years - if you mean an inline fuse, you should be able to find the holders at any auto parts store, and a 14A fuse to fit that .... OTOH, you do not want the motor wired directly to a power source, it should go via a fan switch, usually multi-speed, which probably was removed from your truck, so what you really want is a heater fan control switch
Bill | | | | | Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 623 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Nov 2014 Posts: 623 | Just put my old one back in. There's a diagram that I got from a search on here that's pretty simple. It's basically motor to switch, and the other wire from switch to power (junction block or key switch), with a voltage reducer (if you still have a 6v motor), either between the switch and heater or before the switch. Read a few posts where someone said it doesn't matter, one said it would be good for your switch if before it, and another guy made a lot of sense when he said mount it in or on your heater housing, which would disperse the heat and also send that heat out with the air moving out of your heater/defroster, so that's what I did. Might as well put the heat to use. When it's getting hot is when you need heat in the cab, may as well put it to work!
